Confession of Faith

I
The Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible*:

(a) was written by Inspiration** (II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:19-21, Acts 1:16)

(b) has truth without error (Psalm 119:160, Psalm 119:105, Luke 24: 44-45)

(c) is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to Man (Psalm  119:89, Proverbs 30:5-6)

(d) is the standard by which all human conduct, beliefs, and opinions should be tried. (Psalm 19:7-11, Romans 15:4,  Philippians 4:8-9)

*By THE HOLY BIBLE, we mean that collection of sixty-six books, from Genesis to Revelation, which, as originally written, does not contain and convey the word of God but IS the very Word of God.

** By INSPIRATION we mean that the books of the Bible were written by holy men of old, as they were moved by  the Holy Spirit, in such a definite way that their writings were supernaturally inspired and free from error as no  other writings have ever been or ever will be inspired.

II
The True God

We believe that there is:

(a) one, and only one, living and true God, (Ephesians 4:6, Exodus 20:2-3)

(b) an infinite, intelligent Spirit (John 4:24, Psalm 147:5)

(c) the maker and supreme ruler of heaven and earth (Psalm 83:18, Jeremiah 10:10)

(d) the only holy One (Exodus 15:11)

(e) worthy of all honor, confidence, and love (Revelation 4:11, I Timothy 1:17,)

(f) that in the Godhead there are three equal persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, executing distinct  but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption (Matthew 28:19, I Corinthians 2:10-11, II Corinthians  13:14)

III
The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person:

(a) equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature, (Matthew 28:19, II Corinthians 13:14)  (b) that he was active in the creation; (Genesis 1:1-3)

(c) that in His relation to the unbelieving world He restrains the Evil one until God’s purpose is fulfilled, (II  Thessalonians 2:6-8)

(d) that He convicts concerning sin, judgment, and righteousness; (John 16:7-11)

(e) that he bears witness to the Truth of the Gospel (John 15:26, Acts 5:30-32)

(f) that He is the agent in the New Birth, (John 3:5-6)

IV
Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ:
(a) is God, the second person of the Holy Trinity (John 1:1-2, 14)
(b) was active in creation (John 1:3)
(c) was born of the virgin Mary, through the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 7:14, Luke 1:35)
(d) became flesh and lived on earth as God and Man, (John 1:14, Col.2:9)
(e) lived a sinless life (Matthew 26:59-60, Hebrews 4:15)
(f) literally died as a sacrifice for us ( John 19:33-34, Romans 5:15)
(g) was buried (Luke 23:53)
(h) arose bodily from the dead (Luke 24:1-6, 36-39)
(i) ascended into heaven and sits at God’s right hand (Acts 1:9, Romans 8:34)
(j) mediates for us before God (1 Timothy 2:5)

V Sanctification

We believe that sanctification has a two-fold meaning:

(a) that the believer at the time of his salvation is set apart by God the Father; (Hebrews 10:10, 14)

(b) that the progressive work of the Holy Spirit through which the believer: I Thess. 5:23, II Corinthians 3:18

1. becomes obedient to the Word of God (John 17:17)

2. experiences His indwelling power for holiness of life and victory over sin (I Corinthians 3:16, I  Corinthians 6:19-20)

3. will stand complete in Christ’s presence. (Jude 24)

VI
Devil or Satan

We believe that Satan:
(a) was once holy, and enjoyed heavenly honors; but through pride and ambition to be as the Almighty, fell (Ezekiel 28:14-17)
(b) drew after him a host of angels (Rev 12:9b, II Peter 2:4)
(c) that he is now the malignant prince of the power of the air and the unholy god of this world (Ephesians 2:2, II Corinthians 4:4)
(d) We hold him to be man’s great tempter (I Peter 5:8, I Thessalonians 3:5)
(e) the enemy of God and His Christ (I John 3:8, Matthew 13:25, 37-39)
(f) the accuser of the saints (Revelation 12:10)
(g) the author of all false religions, the chief power of the present apostasy (II Corinthians 11: 13-15)
(h) destined to final defeat at the hands of God’s Son and to the judgement of an eternal justice in hell, a place prepared for him and his angels. (Revelation 20:1-3,7-10, Matthew 25:41)

VII
The Creation

We believe in the Genesis account of creation:
(a) That it is a literal (24-hour) 7-day creation (Genesis 1:1&31, Exodus 20:11, John 1:3)
(b) That man was created directly in God’s own image and after His own likeness, not the result of evolutionary change (Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 139:13-14)

VIII
The Fall of Man

We believe that mankind:
(a) was created in innocence but by voluntary transgression fell from this sinless state (Genesis 2:17, Genesis 3:1- 7, Romans 5:12)

(c) is under just condemnation without defense or excuse (Galatians 3:22a, John 3:19, Revelation 20:12-15)

IX
Salvation

Salvation is a free gift available to all, through grace, not of works (Romans 3:24, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9). We believe:
(a) A sinner must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:16, Acts 16:31)
(b) Confess that they are a sinner (Romans 10:9-10)

(d) That its scripturally designated officers are pastors and deacons (Philippians 1:1,
I Timothy 3:1-13)
(e) finds its true mission in the great commission (Matthew 28:19-20)
(f) has one and only one superintendent, which is Christ, through the Holy Spirit. (Colossians 1:18, John 16:7-8)
(g) Has the final word on all matters of membership, of policy, of government, of discipline, of benevolence, (Matthew 18:15-17, I Corinthians 6:1-2)

XI
Baptism and the Lord's Supper

We believe the ordinances of the church are
(a) Believer's Baptism, which is
(1) immersion in water In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Romans 6:3-5, Matthew 3:13-17)
